IP02 lost ethernet port

I have been doing a lot of development and testing on an IP02 (a couple of
months old) running switchfin. Suddenly today, after a reboot, it stopped being able to communicate with its ethernet port. The ifconfig command seems to fail
to recognise the ethernet port and only shows the local loop!
I have no idea how to proceed ...

Re: IP02 lost ethernet port

Hi Nikos,

1. What is happening from the u-boot after you set serverip and apaddr variables.
Can you ping something from IP02 u-boot in your local network?
2. Which version of Switchfin do you use?
3. Can you bring the eth0 up using ifconfig command?
4. Is your box set to get the IP from DHCP server?
4. Is this possibly that you have MAC address collision in your local network?

Best Regards
Dimitar

Re: IP02 lost ethernet port

Hello, greetings since long time!  well sadly I haven't had time to play with my IP02 for many months.  But today I dug it out from the box and blew off the dust.  I built a fresh uImage from SVN r500 and flashed up.  So far mostly it went smoothly but I noticed that the build doesn't seem to contain the 'dhcpcd' binary so therefor dhcp 'auto' setting does not work.  Do you think this is a problem with the makefile, or my build environment (fedora 13),  or some bug in the SVN repo?  cheers guys

edit: while i'm at it, I noticed one (somewhat big) problem with SVN 500 web gui.  On the "Asterisk SIP Settings" pages, there is a javascript error (tested with IE, Firefox, Chrome) that prevents any settings from being saved.  So these settings must be edited by hand via the config files.  It's possible to do but klunky.

Re: IP02 lost ethernet port

Hi luckman212

Good to see you again Ive just run a test of SVN 500 in IE 8, Firefox 3.6, and Chrome and cant see any javascript error.  Any chance i can get access to see the error and debug it.

Also with DHCPD are you trying to run a DHCP server on the IP02 or set the network as DHCP?

Thanks
Jason

Re: IP02 lost ethernet port

Jason how can I privately send you the login info for that ip02?

also with DHCP I am just trying to have the IP02 act as a DHCP client and pull its address from the existing dhcp server on the LAN.   I do not want the ip02 acting as a dhcp server.  I couldn't get this to work so I reverted to a manual-set IP which is working ok.

Re: IP02 lost ethernet port

Hi luckman212

You can just PM me the details or email me Jason at ii-tec dot com, I won't be able to check for a few hrs its very early in Sydney now lol.

With DHCP you shouldn't need DHCPD just enable DHCP in the network settings.

Thanks
Jason

Re: IP02 lost ethernet port

Guys I am reporting sad news (for myself).  I have sold my IP02 out of necessity.  It is still running the SVN 500 build and its been running well for a few weeks.  I do have SSH access to the unit but I would be quite nervous to attempt remote upgrades of the uImage.  So at this point I have no way to find out if this DHCP or javascript problem has been fixed in the newer SVN versions.  Perhaps I will generate a new uImage for the guy who bought it when we hit r550 and do more testing.
