Paid DAHDI driver work

This is mainly directed at Dimitar but if anyone else feels up to the task, please let me know!

The guy designing our PCB has pointed out that while the IP04 uses the Si3050 + Si3019 for the FXO and Si3201 + Si3215 for the FXS, we could replace these four chips with just two, the newer Si32176-B-FM and Si32919-A-FS.

The four chip solution uses separate chips for input and output, whereas the new chips combine these into two bidirectional interfaces. No doubt the existing DAHDI drivers will not work but we are unsure whether they merely need to be tweaked or whether it would be closer to a rewrite.

In any case, while I have done minor tweaks to drivers in the past, this task is really beyond me and we are looking to hire someone to do the work. It appears that David Rowe did the bulk of the work on the existing drivers but Dimitar has also made numerous changes. I previously e-mailed David regarding another matter but he never replied so I am offering this to Dimitar first.

I have documentation and example code from Silicon Labs and can obviously supply the hardware to work with. Please let me know if you're interested or if you know of someone else who may be able to do it.

I may do if necessary but Dimitar has expressed interest. He is just waiting to receive the details.

Chewi,

Hope you don't mind me asking... is your board for your own use or something coming to market?  I've always thought this looked like a good product and wondered what happened to it;  http://tinyworx.com/

Thanks.

Re: Paid DAHDI driver work

It'll be going to market but not just yet. The initial focus is now getting our software stack onto a certain existing device. That's all I can say for now. smile Sorry for being cryptic!
