how to restart asterisk on ip02 without rebooting entire unit

Hello guys,
As I have sold my ip02 (sadly) to a friend I now have taken over the task of supporting him through various issues.  I've unfortunately got a somewhat old build (SVN 500) running on there and so as there are some GUI bugs with javascripts I cannot sometimes save options esp. SIP settings.

so I must edit by hand (using vi editor) and then I would like to just reload Asterisk without restarting the entire IP02 unit.

is it possible? what would the correct command be?  I have SSH access to the box.  I figured something like

$ asterisk -rx "module reload"
or
$ asterisk -rx "restart now"

would work but, it did not.
