Re: Experience building on Ubuntu Lucid 10.04

hi rterbush sorry to barge in on this conversation with my noob questions.  But I really do want to learn.  How did  you learn how to create this dnsmasq package?  I mean specifically, how to generate the .mk file and what specific compiler directives to use etc.   I mean I look at these examples you guys have and I get the basic idea, but I just dont know how you "know" which options to apply.  Are you looking this info up from somewhere?

i saw also that dnsmasq is already included in the uClinux-dist
/switchfin/build_ip04/uClinux-dist/user/dnsmasq

but I guess you are not using that one, correct?  the package that you have created here -- it is completely independent?

sorry if these are dumb questions but the learning curve is steep in the beginning, or I am slow.  or both.

Re: Experience building on Ubuntu Lucid 10.04

Hey luckman,

Sorry, but I am the on the noob curve along with you. The original patch for dnsmasq was created by hads, the originator of this thread. I know my way around subversion and just wanted to do what I can to keep the dnsmasq ball rolling.

The dnsmasq build option in the tree creates a dnsmasq that apparently is unable to read configuration files. Not sure what is different about it, but can confirm that the dnsmasq build that hads setup works.

I am still battling an IP02 to get a usable environment. I'm at least to the point where I am trying to convince it to register a SIP trunk now which is harder than I have experienced in the past...

There seem to be a few posts that give some general idea of how to add packages. dnsmasq seemed to be a pretty clean example to learn from.

Re: Experience building on Ubuntu Lucid 10.04

Ok thanks man.  Going to look at hads' example with DNSmasq and see if I can learn anything from it.  Last 2-3 days I've had my head buried in this IP02 and I really went nuts with it.  Now I have a stable image running off svn286.  Going to give it a rest for a few days while I try to get madplay/mp3play working.
