Problems building on Ubuntu Lucid (10.04)

I've download the dependences as described in the post by hads http://www.switchfin.org/index.php?opti … ;Itemid=54

Checked out the switchfin trunk.

From the switchfin directory "make menuconfig" throws up the following error

make: config/mconf: Command not found
make: *** [menuconfig] Error 127

The executable mconf exists in the config directory.

Any thoughts why this is failing?

Probably it is something related with the permissions?
Can you try as root?

Sorry I should have mentioned that I tried root just in case it was permissions and it did not make any difference.

okay figured it out.

Needed to install the 32bit runtime libraries

sudo apt-get install ia32-libs

Ubuntu isn't my primary distro but I'm not sure why this would be required. It seems odd.

It contains the compatibility libraries for running 32-bit x86 binaries on 64-bit x86 systems. And now I see what the problem is. 32-bit x86 binaries have been committed to the repository in the config directory. I didn't notice because I already have compatibility libraries installed on my Gentoo system. I have now deleted these and the other generated files from this directory and added them to svn:ignore. Problem solved. smile
