PR1 peformance

I just thought I would share this in case anyone else is considering the PR1 and would like to know how it is performing for others in a live production environment.

I have a PR1 running in a gateway mode behind a automated dialer in a small call center providing a TDM to SIP conversion for basic SIP trunking.  It is running a pre-release version 447 that allows the gateway functionality.

It has just been installed so we can turn it on and off as desired to give us time to evaluate it against a traditional TDM connected T1 circuit.

It does have a digital cross-connect between it and the dialer providing this on/off switch and so we can monitor the DS0 signaling states and DS1 stability.  It is operating in T1 RBS mode, lbo at 0db, ESF/B8ZS, providing 24 time slots with e&m wink start signaling towards the TDM dialer and SIP towards the service provider.  We do have the additional echo cancellation card, LEC-64-PRI, installed in the system and a 8GB SD card for log files, etc.

[TDM Auto-Dialer]<->[DXC]<->[PR1]<->[SIP Provider]

So far there has been no DS1 or DS0 stability issues.  It is solid as a rock.

Most the calls are short duration with a lot of ring no answer and answering machines.  Looking at last night's stats we ran it in production for 3.5 hours and process 1,541 calls.  All reports from the user's regarding call setup or quality were very good.  Zero complaints.  All stats from the DXC reporting database show zero T1 errors.  Our plan is to watch it, continue to measure it but leave it in the call center under full production moving forward.  The performance is proving to be extremely good.

Re: PR1 peformance

Just an update in case anyone was wondering how it was going.

The original PR1 has been updated to rev 458 and has been in full production since my last posting.  I recently added a second PR1 running rev 468M to increase the circuit count provided to the TDM dialing system to 48 circuits.

These two T1 circuits were provided by the local telephone company and have been canceled.  This client no longer pays for T1 access and is still obtaining 48 DS0s of needed dial tone to their TDM dialing system.  It took some initial tweaking of wink timing but the quality of voice calls have been very good.

This has proven to show great ROI and is operating very solid.
